Teaching philosophy: I hope all of my students could read Pinyin Chinese story book by themselves after we learned all of our Pinyin finals and initials.

教学指导思想：六年在美国教中文的经历告诉我：在有限的时间里，教学生最需要的、最想要的。近三十年的教学经验告诉我：教无定法。只有教不好的老师，没有学不好的学生。一生的体会告诉我：兴趣是最好的老师。在中文教学中追求的目标是：让学生尽快地掌握常用汉字，具有在听、说、读、写几个不同的方面应用中文的能力。

Six years of teaching Chinese in the US showed that when time is scarce, I should teach my students only what they want to learn and what is necessary for them. Nearly thirty years of experience in education attested the need for flexibility in the classroom. There are no poor students but only poor teachers. A lifetime of observation demonstrated that the best teacher in life is one’s desire to learn. My goal for teaching Chinese is giving students the ability to understand, read, speak, and write Chinese by teaching them the fundamentals of the language.

Teaching philosophy: Teach with care. Emphasize the balanced development of Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Guide and encourage students to try and learn without fear, especially in the areas of conversation and writing. Don’t be afraid of making mistake. With the teacher’s help, mistakes can help you learn more and faster.

教学理想：注重听说读写均衡发展。以爱心和耐心引导并鼓历学生多说（国语），多作功课。不怕难，不怕错，错了改正，进步最多。

Teaching Philosophy:  Always have passion for students, teach them with great love and patience. My goal is to help students learn Chinese in an efficient and effective way, help them build self-confidence of using the language, and meanwhile keep them highly motivated and interested. The key for students to master a foreign language is to use it often, so I make sure that every student gets chance to practice in the class and feels comfortable to use it outside the classroom.

Philosophy and Goal: To understand the expectations of the parents, and accommodate the abilities of the students. Encourage students with tender care to learn more and practice more. the goal is to learn all 37 pronunciation symbols and learn how to use them. Learn numerals 1 through 10 in Chinese characters and write their  names in Chinese.

Teaching philosophy: Preparing the teaching material that is enriched with updated trend and match with students’ abilities.  With appropriate activities, to inspire their potentials to make sure they understand the broad and refined Chinese Cultures so as to let them expand and compare between cultures. My final goal is to achieve the 5C targets on Students’ way to learn foreign languages.

Class: Simplified Chinese Adult Level 3/ Mandarin Conversation II （简体成人3班/国语会话班II）

Class description: The students in this class all have basic knowledge on PinYing, can read Chinese sentences with PinYing subtitles. In Adult Advanced class I focus on grammar and also introduce new words and phrases while learning sentence examples from textbook. Students therefore learn how to use them in situations that are different from textbook examples. In Conversation class, I frequently bring stories from local news into classroom and encourage students to discuss them in Chinese. By talking very slowly and paying attention to each student, I make sure all of them can follow the discussion.

Teaching philosophy: I believe that a key factor in the foreign language learning lies in self -confidence. I encourage my students to talk as much as possible in the classroom. I point out each bit of progress they make and keep every student highly motivated in my classroom.

Class description: This class is for students who have attended Simplified Chinese Level 3, or are in the equivalent level. The class uses ZhongWen Level 4 text book. Besides coving the materials in the text books, I also will introduce reading materials from fables, Chinese literatures, Chinese riddles, etc., to stimulate students’ interests in learning Chinese. 本班是适于已学完简体中文三年级，或是有相当程度的学生。本班用的课本是＂中文＂第四册。除了教课本的内容，我还用寓言，中国古典文献，中文谜语等，来激发学生学中文的兴趣。

Teaching philosophy: I encourage the students in this class to spend time everyday to read in Chinese. Class participation in Chinese is highly encouraged and rewarded. I believe no matter what level you are in, practice often is the key.

教学理念：我鼓励学生每天都要用中文来阅读。鼓励学生积极参与课堂，用中文发言，并给与加分做为奖励。多练习是学语言的关键。

希望通过轻松愉快的学习，使学生中文的听、说、读、写能力都有一定的提高。同时，在教学中注意培养学生用汉语表达的自觉性，鼓励学生在中文学校和家里用汉语和同学及家长对话。在本学期结束时，要求学生借助字典能够阅读不带拼音标注的故事和短文，并用自己的话复述出来；能够讲包含10/15个完整句子的故事；并完成200字左右的记叙文写作。

       In our class, students will learn Chinese with their classmates together with joy and excitement! At the mean time, students are required to communicate in Chinese in school and encouraged to do the same with parents at home. At the end of this semester, they will be able to read the new textbook and short Chinese folk stories using a dictionary, repeat the stories in Chinese with their own thoughts and opinions, tell 10-15 sentence short stories in Chinese, and be able to write 200 words essay.

Class description: Since all the students in Simplify Level 1 are adults. And some of them learned some Chinese before, the rest of them have no experience at all. The class focus on pronunciation, daily conversation and Chinese culture.

 Teaching Philosophy: Learning a language is a long process. It feels like you never get enough  time to learn in the classroom. So how to spend time in the classroom for the students efficiently is crucial. Students are supposed to learn how to catch fish not to be given. Because we really can't give much in a very limited time in the classroom.The students come to school actually to learn the "tools" that benefit them for the rest of their lives.

针对汉语水平程度较高、无听说障碍的华裔学生，本人在教学中重在加强对他们的读写能力的训练。在教学中根据课程的需要，加大相关题材的课外阅读量，并要求学生勤于练笔、敏于思考，以便达到提高学生中华文化修养的教学目的。

This course is designed for heritage students who have demonstrated proficiency in intermediate to advanced level Mandarin in all four aspects of the language: speaking, listening, reading and writing. My goal is to help students achieve near-native language proficiency and cultural literacy through extensive extracurricular reading and writing assignments.

Class description: This class is open to non-Chinese speaking students. The main purpose is to teach the students basic, but practical conversation in daily life. The students will learn some basic sentence pattern mixted with pinyin and grammar in the class. There is no age limit.

Teaching philosophy: I always teach my students with passion and patience. They are greatly encouraged to practice in may class. My goal is to make them feel more confident to learn conversation in Chinese.

国语对话初级班是为中文不是母语的学生开设的，主要目的是教会学生基本但实用的日常会话用语。课堂上，学生们会学一些基本的字句，拼音和语法。年龄不限。
